Is @Microsoft quietly trying to step out of OpenAI’s shadow?
During my chat with Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman at #MicrosoftBuild2026, he made their goal crystal clear: Microsoft wants the capacity to build the "absolute frontier" of AI models in house and entirely from scratch.
Which is a departure from what they’ve been doing for the past few years of integrating OpenAI’s models into their products.
He also gave a really interesting answer about AI scraping for training data and I’m curious if it makes you want to give them a try more….
